Important information from the President

2021 is a very special year for the Chopin Society as it marks our 50th anniversary.

Many events were planned: a Celebrity Series; a Hatchlands concert with Melvyn Tan in May; a Gala at Strawberry Hill with Angela Hewitt in June, and John Gilhooly OBE OSI, Director of the Wigmore Hall, kindly gave us the Wigmore Hall for a Gala in October.

Due to the Covid pandemic the earlier events had to be cancelled, but the Society is hoping that the Wigmore Hall event can go ahead on Sunday October 17th as scheduled. It is hoped that Royalty will attend.

This promises to be a truly magnificent evening. For full details, click on the event entry on the Recitals page.

The Chopin Society has been dormant for a year and a half and with so many events cancelled, and subscriptions considerably reduced, we are sorely in need of funds.

It would be wonderful if some of you might consider being Patrons for the Evening or taking some advertising space in the souvenir programme. Further information on this can be obtained by emailing the Chopin Society office on info@chopin-society.org.uk

At the present time of course nothing can be absolutely guaranteed, and we may even be obliged to cancel the whole thing if the situation regarding the virus changes. In which case all monies paid to us for tickets, advertising or patronage will be refunded.

We cannot be 100% sure that all the artists booked to play will actually be able to appear on the night, as some are coming from abroad and may be subject to revised quarantine restrictions. Should this happen, because this is a charity fund-raising event, we will not be refunding the cost of tickets.

In these uncertain times, we are keeping our fingers crossed and hoping everything will indeed go ahead, and that you will be able to support us in celebrating our 50th anniversary at the Wigmore Hall, London’s premier recital venue.

Our series of regular recitals at Westminster Cathedral Hall will restart in November. Full details to follow soon.
