  • Chopin – Bolero, Op.16
  • Chopin – Waltz in A minor Op.34 no.2 ‘Grande Valse brillante’
  • Chopin – Prelude in C sharp minor, Op.45
  • Chopin – Nocturne in B, Op. 62 no.1
  • Chopin – Scherzo No.4 in E, Op.54
  • Beethoven – Sonata in B flat Op.106, ‘Hammerklavier’.


Ian Fountain (piano)

In 1989 Ian Fountain became the youngest winner of the Artur Rubinstein Piano Masters Competition in Tel Aviv at the age of 19. He was educated as a chorister at New College, Oxford and later at Winchester College. He studied piano under Sulamita Aronovsky at the Royal Northern College. Since that time he has enjoyed a wide-ranging and varied career as soloist, chamber musician and conductor, performing extensively throughout Europe, the USA, UK and the Far East. Since 2001, Ian Fountain has been a Professor of Piano at the Royal Academy of Music, London. He holds masterclasses around the world and has served on the jury of many international piano competitions, including the Artur Rubinstein Masters.

The recital will take place in the purpose-built Princess Alexandra Concert Hall, which is equipped with a superb full-sized concert grand Steinway piano.

  • Tickets for the final concert in our current season include tea, coffee and cakes after the concert.
